We are delighted to announce the appointment of Robert Mullen as our new Club Community Rugby Officer (CCRO). Robbie joined the club in 2013 after receiving a rugby scholarship and he went on to study a Bachelor of Arts degree and then did a further year studying for a Masters in Strategic Management. At 23 years of age he is now going into his 5th season with the club. “I would firstly like to thank Eddie Fitzgearld, Sam Cawley, Tom McKeown and MU Barnhall as a whole for this wonderful opportunity. It means a huge amount to me and my family and I will aim to continue on the great work that Gareth Murray has done over previous years. As a player, I recognise the importance of having a strong mini’s system with plenty of kids enjoying themselves. I hope in years to come some of these youth players will push on further up the scale and eventually play at senior level for this great club. It is my intention to further grow the level of participation within the youth’s system and I will do this and building upon the great work Gareth has done already within the primary and secondary schools associated with MU Barnhall. I also aim to introduce rugby into new schools within the area with the hope this will attract new players to the club. I realise the importance of having excellent coaching within our youth’s system and I intend on guiding and helping these coaches using a game based approach to make sure the kids not only participate in the games but participate with a smile on their faces.”
