On Friday 13th March, The NUIM Barnhall Butchers are hosting a race night which is being dubbed, “The Ballon d’or” of race nights.
The night which is to fund raise for the Butchers & Expendables teams promises to be a night of excitement, adrenalin and General Butchers merriment in the main bar of the club.
Punters are advised to arrive at 7:30pm in order to have time to analyse form in time for the first race which will start at 8pm.
There will be 11 races on the night, 10 of which, horses are available to budding horse owners looking to dip their toe in the pool of steeple chase water that is the stable owner’s lifestyle. A lifestyle full of morning oats, sugar lumps and galloping through fields fetlocks flowing in the wind.
Each race will have 8 horses. Owner’s prizes will be paid to the owner of the Horse/Jockey in each race. In addition to this, betting on the night is possible. Betting will be done through the Tote system.
In true butchers fashion there will be an element of fun on the night, so be prepared to get involved, or just to laugh at the people who do. There will also be a raffle on the night for some excellent prizes.
So….If you fancy yourself as the next J.P McManus, or even just a weekend warrior of the sport of kings like Michael Owen (He’s an ex Soccer Ball player(ish)), come along on the 13th and try your luck against horses such as , ‘Tesco’s Finest’, ‘Bobby Dazzler’ and ‘Red Rum & Coke’.
